Montréal's the Besnard Lakes are offering a free sample of their much-anticipated third LP, The Besnard Lakes Are the Roaring Night this week. The track is the fuzz-pop single, "Albatross." As is customary with this husband and wife-fronted group, there's lots of guitar feedback and plenty of reverb floating under the soaring '60s-pop vocals. The single will also be made available on February 9th (8th in the UK) as a vinyl 12-inch with the exclusive "Four Long Lines" on the flip.

In other Lakes news, the band's official North American tour will begin in late April (Jagjaguwar updates forthcoming), and the rock quartet will be appearing at SXSW in March. Click here for details on that spring trek. In addition, Sympathy For Delicious, a film directed by Mark Ruffalo with music scored by The Besnard Lakes, has been accepted into the 2010 Sundance Film Festival. The film is in the running for "Best U.S. Drama," and centers on the story of the paralyzed DJ "Delicious" Dean, as he seeks help in the disputed world of faith healing. More information on screenings of the movie are at the Sundance site.
