The Be Your Own Pet days are sadly long gone but you won’t see the “puke-till-you-punk” singer/guitarist Jemina Pearl crying. She’s too busy prepping her debut solo LP for a October 6th release on Universal/Ecstatic Peace. The 13-track album is aptly titled Break It Up and features first single “I Hate People,” which is a duet with Pearl’s punk godfather, Iggy Pop. You can hear “I Hate People” right here.

Break It Up was produced by John Agnello (The Hold Steady, Sonic Youth) and features fellow ex-BYOP member John Eatherly. Sonic Youth‘s Thurston Moore and TV on the Radio‘s David Sitek also guest on the debut. Pearl is taking her hate for people on the road this fall with indie pop vets Islands.
