At the end of September shoegazing legends Lush announced they were reuniting and some shows in London (May 6 and 7 at the Roundhouse) and New York (September 14 at Terminal 5) were announced. Some other shows and festival appearances (including Coachella) have been announced since then, but now the band has announced a full on U.S. tour. They include some spring West Coast dates around Coachella and some fall East Coast dates. The dates are below.

As previously reported, the band (Emma Anderson, Miki Berenyi, and Philip King) have recorded a brand new four-song EP that will be released this year. They are also working on a new album. The EP’s songs were co-written by the band’s co-founders Anderson and Berenyi and the EP is co-produced by Jim Abbiss and Ladytron’s Daniel Hunt.

Lush were one of the originators and main icons of the shoegazing genre, along with Slowdive, Ride, My Bloody Valentine, and Swervedriver (who have all reformed in recent years). Lush released three albums in the ‘90s, but split up after the 1996 suicide of drummer Chris Acland. Their final show was in Tokyo, Japan in September 1996. Justin Welch of Britpop icons Elastica will be playing drums at their reunion shows.

Lush are releasing Chorus, a box set collecting all their albums, as well as various B-sides, demos, radio sessions, remixes, and unreleased tracks. It’s already out in the U.K. and due out this Friday in the U.S., via 4AD.

Read our two recent interviews with Berenyi and Anderson on their albums Split and Lovelife, in which they discussed the challenges of reforming. Also read our 2007 interview with Berenyi, which at the time was her first interview in a decade, since Lush’s breakup.
