This week will see the release of NERVE, a new thriller starring Emma Roberts and Dave Franco, alongside its soundtrack album, NERVE - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, from Lakeshore Records. The movie’s score is by Rob Simonsen, the veteran composer known for his work on films such as Life of Pi, The Age of Adaline, and Foxcatcher. The soundtrack will release digitally on July 29th, with a CD release soon to follow.

“New York F***** City,” from Simonsen’s soundtrack, embraces a retro, dark synths vibe that would be equally at home scoring a high-speed chase or a euphoric night on a nightclub’s dance floor. The song’s ‘80s stylization reflects the film’s cool color palette, and is carried throughout score, which Simonsen describes as “the sound of electricty running through the nervous system.” Take a listen to our exclusive stream below:

Lionsgate will release NERVE in theaters on July 27th. The film follows high school student Vee (Emma Roberts) as she becomes caught up in a social media game which at first seems harmless—but as the dares become more and more dangerous, proves to be much scarier than she ever anticipated. She’s accompanied by a fellow player (Dave Franco) as their fates are entwined and the game’s stakes grow higher and higher. The high-energy thriller is directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, the team behind the documentary Catfish. You can watch the trailer below:
