Tancred Shares “Riverdale”-Inspired Video for “Something Else”
Video Features Potty Mouth and Actress Brittany Ashley

Tancred is the project of Jess Abott. Back in June the Maine musician released her fourth full-length album, Nightstand, via Polyvinyl. Now she has shared a video for the album’s “Something Else.” Jason Lester directed the video, which is inspired by the teen TV show Riverdale (as well as Twin Peaks), but with a gay twist. It features actress Brittany Ashley and the band Potty Mouth. Watch it below, followed by Tancred’s upcoming tour dates.
Lester had this to say about the video in a press release: “Jess and I wanted to pay tribute to the stylized, teen dream melodramas we love, from Riverdale to Twin Peaks. The giddy feeling of attraction represented by TV’s archetypes of youth, cotton candy colors, and often repressed sexuality felt perfectly in sync with Tancred’s swooning track.”
Abbott added: “Brittany and I had wanted to work on a video together for a while, and Potty Mouth basically is Josie and the Pussycats, so it all came together just right.”
Lewis Pesacov (Best Coast, Generationals) produced Nightstand, which is the follow-up to 2016’s Out of the Garden. “I wanted the album to have a timeless feel to it, so you could hear my stories of love and loneliness and sense that these are themes that have existed for everyone forever,” said Abott of Nighstand in a press release announcing the album. “Ultimately, we are all feeling these things together, and that can be enough to feel less alone. There’s a hopefulness in the loneliness.”
