The Shins released a new album, Heartworms, in March 2017 via Aural Apothecary/Columbia. Back in January they released The Worm’s Heart, which was a reworked version of the album. Each song was “flipped,” with the same lyrics and melodies, but different instrumentation. Now they have shared a near 15-minute long short film also titled The Worm’s Heart. The Shins’ drummer Jon Sortland directed the film, in which frontman James Mercer tries to solve the mystery of Amelia Earhart, the iconic pilot who disappeared in 1937 in a flight over the central Pacific Ocean. The film features songs from The Worm’s Heart. Watch it below (and above is a poster for the film).
On Record Store Day (April 21) The Shins are releasing a split 12-inch Los Lobos vs. The Shins. It features three versions of “The Fear,” the ones from Heartworms and The Worm’s Heart, as well as a cover of the song by Los Lobos.
