Thom Yorke of Radiohead released a new solo album, ANIMA, back in June via XL (stream it here). Now he has announced Not the News, a new remix EP featuring four remixes of “Not the News,” a song from ANIMA. It is due out tomorrow (August 2) digitally and on 12-inch white label vinyl soon via XL (limited to 3,000 copies worldwide). Below is the tracklist and cover art, followed by Yorke’s upcoming tour dates.

ANIMA was accompanied by short film directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, a “one-reeler” set to three tracks from the album, and you can watch that over at Netflix now.

Once ANIMA was released (only a few days after being announced), two of its songs, “Twist” and “The Axe,” made our Songs of the Week list at #1 and #2 respectively.

ANIMA was written by Yorke and produced by longtime collaborator Nigel Godrich. It includes songs previously debuted live during the Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes performances. The physical version is available on “CD, black double vinyl, limited edition orange double vinyl, and a deluxe 180g heavyweight orange double vinyl which includes a 40-page book of lyrics, and pencil drawings by Stanley Donwood and Dr Tchock.”

The trailer for the short film described a one-reeler as “a motion picture, especially a cartoon or comedy, of 10-12 minutes duration and contained on one reel of film; popular especially in the era of silent films.”

A press release announcing the album included a definition for the word “anima,” defining it as “an individual’s true inner self that in the analytic psychology of C. G. Jung reflects archetypal ideals of conduct,” adding, “also: an inner feminine part of the male personality.”

Yorke also recently announced some new North American tour dates and those are below again. The electronic shows will be with his Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes band (Yorke, Godrich, and visual artist Tarik Barri) and go down this September and October.

Last year Yorke scored his first feature film, Suspiria, and the soundtrack, Suspiria (Music for the Luca Guadagnino Film), was released last fall via XL.
