Iggy Pop performed at the Tibet House Benefit at Carnegie Hall in New York last night and he covered one song by his late friend and collaborator David Bowie (who passed away in January) and performed another song he co-wrote with Bowie. With members of The Patti Smith group he covered the Bowie classic "The Jean Genie" and then he was joined by Sharon Jones for "Tonight," a song originally written by Bowie and Pop for Pop's second solo album, 1977's Lust for Life, which Bowie then covered for his 1984 album, also titled Tonight. Check out fan shot videos of both songs below.

Pop's new album, Post Pop Depression, is due out March 18 via Loma Vista. Josh Homme (of Eagles of Death Metal and Queens of the Stone Age) produced it and plays on it. The album also features Queens of the Stone Age/Dead Weather keyboardist/guitarist Dean Fertita and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders and live the band is also joined by Queens of the Stone Age's Troy Van Leeuwen (guitar) and Chavez's Matt Sweeney (bass).
