Watch: “Jurassic World” Trailer (“Jurassic Park” Sequel Starring Chris Pratt)
“We just went and made a new dinosaur? Probably not a good idea.”
Twenty-one years ago Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park captivated audiences worldwide, in part because of its then state of the art CGI special effects that really brought dinosaurs to terrifying life. It’s been quite awhile since 2001’s largely forgotten Jurassic Park III, but after a protracted development process the franchise is back with Jurassic World, the fourth movie in the series, and now we have the sequel’s first trailer.
Chris Pratt stars, which in hindsight was a pretty shrewd casting move (he was cast before becoming a huge star with this past summer’s Guardians of the Galaxy). Bryce Dallas Howard is also featured heavily in the trailer and Jurassic World‘s cast also includes Judy Greer, Irrfan Khan, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy, and BD Wong.
Spielberg is an executive producer this time. Stepping into the director’s chair is Colin Trevorrow, who directed the critically acclaimed indie time traveling film Safety Not Guaranteed, which starred Chris Pratt’s Parks & Recreation co-star/onscreen wife Aubrey Plaza and Jurassic World‘s Jake Johnson.
Set 22 years after the events of the first movie, in Jurassic World the park seems safely open for business (although you wouldn’t catch me going there), until Dallas Howard and her team of scientists genetically engineer a new species of dinosaur that then escapes. “We just went and made a new dinosaur? Probably not a good idea,” warns Pratt. Bring on much chaos, escaped velociraptors, and… well, you can see for yourself.
Jurassic World enters our world on June 12, 2015, in 3D no less.
