Acting sales manager Evan (Fran Kranz) is passed over for a promotion when his boss brings in an outside hire. It isn’t long before he notices something isn’t right about his new colleague, Max (Game of Thrones’ Pedro Pascal). When coworkers begin to disappear and then return obviously undead, Evan teams up with his best friend, girlfriend, and his telemarketing firm’s security guard to stop the vampires from their hostile corporate takeover.

Bloodsucking Bastards has been endlessly described as Office Space meets Shaun of the Dead, but that pitch is just far too apt not to be cited again. The horror-comedy recalls the vulgar wit of Mike Judge’s cult classic and installs gory vampire action into its banal office setting. Where it really elevates itself beyond the realm of knockoff is in its Edgar Wright-like approach to visual humor. Some of the movie’s best gags arrive via unexpected cutaways or creative camera work—there’s an especially hilarious recurring joke involving clever panning during one character’s lunch breaks. Like Office Space, there is some humor that will be appreciated far more by audience members with experience working in a cubicle farm, but anyone with a strong stomach can laugh at the absurd amount of blood each vampire sprays when it’s staked.
