Tokyo Police Club
Tokyo Police Club have returned, after a handful of years off, announcing a reissue of their 2010 fan-favorite album, Champ. Along with the reissue, the band has also brought along some deep cuts, remixes, demos, and never before heard tracks for fans to dig into. For the first single the band brought on fellow indie pop vets Matt & Kim to remix “Gone,” premiering with Under the Radar.

Jimbo Mathus
Jimbo Mathus and Andrew Bird have announced a new album, These 13, and shared a video for “Sweet Oblivion,” the lead single from the album. Both Mathus and Bird were in Squirrel Nut Zippers together in the late ’90s and this is their first collaboration in decades. These 13 will be out on March 5 via Thirty Tigers.

VAR
Icelandic post rock band VAR is returning January 15 with a four song live EP taken from the band’s full-length debut, The Never-Ending Year. As a taste of the full performance, they’ve also debuted the live version of “Where To Find You,” premiering with Under the Radar. Due to the pandemic, the band was obviously unable to take the record on the road and perform it for fans. As a result, VAR wanted to give fans the raw live experience, opting for a series of performance videos over a single livestream.

British singer/songwriter/guitarist Jane Weaver is releasing a new album, Flock, on March 5 via Fire. Now she has shared another song from it, “Heartlow,” via a video for the track. Douglas Hart (formerly of The Jesus and Mary Chain) directed the video.

Future Islands released a new album, As Long As You Are, last fall via 4AD. Last night they were the musical guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers, in which they performed the album’s “Plastic Beach.” They have also shared a nine-minute remix of “For Sure” by Dan Deacon (who is also based in Baltimore).

Clever Girls
Vermont based grunge pop quartet Clever Girls are releasing their latest single, “Baby Blue,” premiering with Under the Radar. The band’s latest track comes along with news of their newly announced sophomore album, Constellations. When the band began writing Constellations in 2018 they were still recording their debut record, Luck. Written over the course of weeks of exhausting tour dates, the record chronicles a period of self-discovery for singer/songwriter Diane Jean.

Scotland’s Mogwai are releasing a new album, As the Love Continues, on February 19 via Temporary Residence Inc. Now they have shared the album’s second single, “Ritchie Sacramento,” via a video for the track. The song features vocals, which is not often the case with Mogwai songs, and is partly inspired by the late David Berman (Silver Jews, Purple Mountains).
