Cross Record—the project of Emily Cross, who is also the vocalist in Loma—is releasing a new album, Crush Me, on March 21 via Ba Da Bing. Now she has shared a new song from it, “God Fax,” via a music video. Watch it below.
Cross had this to say about the song in a press release: “Theo [Karon] came to me with the idea for this song and I kept saying ‘Okay we’ll try, but I might scrap it at any time’ right up until the end. I was asked to breathe in and out (kind of gasping) rhythmically and with different pitches until I almost passed out. I showed it to one of my friends when the rough version was done and he seemed scared of it, which to me was a positive sign.”
Crush Me is the first Cross Record album in six years and follows 2019’s self-titled album. Previously she shared its lead single, “Charred Glass.”
Loma released a new album, How Will I Live Without a Body, last year via Sub Pop. It was one of our Top 100 Albums of 2024.
