Listen: The Radio Dept. - “Occupied”
First Single Off Forthcoming Fourth Album
Jun 16, 2015 The Radio Dept.
The Radio Dept. have shared a new song on Soundcloud. “Occupied” is the first single from the Swedish band’s forthcoming fourth album. It’s also out as a limited edition 12-inch vinyl via Labrador (the tracklist for that is below). “Occupied” is over seven minutes long and is a slow building dance track.
No further information has been given on the new album, but it will be the follow-up to 2010’s well-received Clinging to a Scheme. Last September The Radio Dept. shared another new song, “Death to Fascism,” but it’s unclear if that’ll appear on the album.
Occupied 12-inch Tracklist:
1. Occupied
2. It Looked Like Heaven (But Feels Like Hell)
3. Down Down Down - Liminals Remix

The sound is too “90s inspired dance music” to me and the only thing that I can appreciate from this song as a fan of the Radio Dept. is Johan’s iconic voice. This particular song sounds like a radio dj’s late-night mix party version of a radio dept’s song smashed between the eurythmics and LMFAO and I would very much like to know what the “original” in this hypothetical scenario sounds like!
