Metric haven’t released a new album in almost three years, since 2015’s Pagans in Vegas, but now they are back with a brand new single, “Dark Saturday.” There’s no word if it’s the precursor to a new album or just a standalone single, but it’s out now digitally. It harkens to the band’s earlier, more guitar-based punky/New Wave sound, rather than the more electro-rock direction they’ve taken on their last few albums. Listen below. Metric are currently on tour opening for The Smashing Pumpkins and those dates are below too.

Last year frontwoman Emily Haines released a new solo album, Choir of the Mind, under the name Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton. She also appeared on Hug of Thunder, Broken Social Scene‘s excellent 2017 album.
