British trio Muse have shared a new song, “Something Human,” via its video. Lance Drake directed the horror- and science fiction-themed video, which also has a 1980s vibe and references Teen Wolf, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, and more. It also features a video store, which is well timed considering there’s been various news stories about there only being one Blockbuster Video store left. A press release says that a new Muse album is due in November. Watch the below.

Last year Muse shared a video for another new song, “Dig Down,” which was also directed by Lance Drake and also had a retro sci-fi vibe, with frontman Matt Bellamy looking a bit like 1980s computer generated cult character Max Headroom. Then in February they shared another Lance Drake-directed video for the new song “Thought Contagion,” which ended with a “Thriller”-like dance routine featuring various monsters.

Muse frontman Matt Bellamy had this to say about “Something Human” in a press release: “Life on the road can bring out your inner beast, this song and video is about taming that beast, desiring a return to something human. Plus, Teen Wolf is cool.”

Drake had this to say about the video: “Our aim with ‘Something Human’ was to continue the journey that began in ‘Dig Down’ and ‘Thought Contagion.’ Pulling further into a simulated world we follow Matt, Dom, and, Chris on the chase of a lifetime - where something as simple as returning some video tapes becomes an epic journey.”
