Soccer Mommy (the project of Nashville native Sophie Allison) has shared a new song, “Feed.” It is taken from the soundtrack to the upcoming horror film The Turning, which is a more modern version of Henry James’1898 horror novella The Turn of the Screw. The soundtrack is due out January 24, 2020 via KRO/Sony Music Masterworks, the same day as the film. Floria Sigismondi directed the film, which was executive produced by Steven Spielberg and stars Mackenzie Davis, Finn Wolfhard, Brooklynn Prince, and Joely Richardson. Lawrence and Yves Rothman produced the soundtrack, which also features Mitski, Courtney Love, Empress Of, The Aubrey’s Ft. Finn Wolfhard, Vagabon, Cherry Glazerr, Lawrence Rothman, Kim Gordon, Warpaint, and more. Check out “Feed” below, followed by Soccer Mommy’s upcoming tour dates.

Allison had this to say about the song in a press release: “I’ve always wanted to do a song for a horror movie so I loved getting to write ‘Feed.’ It’s a song about letting a demon feed off your body. It was really fun to get to write something a little more imaginative than my other songs.”

Lawrence Rothman had this to say: “The Turning takes place in 1990’s - instead of using licensed ‘90s music - Floria and I wanted to create a soundtrack that was ‘90s influenced mixing our favorite new artist and a few from the ‘90s era. Giving the film its own world and its own unique version of the ‘90s that only this film lives in. When Sophie from Soccer Mommy sent the raw demo to ‘Feed’ it became the main character Kate played by Mackenzie Davis cassette mixtape jam on constant repeat.”

Last month Soccer Mommy shared a seven-minute long brand new song “Yellow is the Color of Her Eyes,” via a video for the track directed by Alex Ross Perry (Her Smell). It was one of our Songs of the Week. “Yellow Is the Color of Her Eyes” features Mary Lattimore on harp and followed “Lucy,” another new song Soccer Mommy shared in September that was one of our Songs of the Week. There’s no word yet of a new album or EP.

Allison released her debut full-length album, Clean, back in March 2018 via Fat Possum. It was one of our Top 100 Albums of 2018. Back in January she shared a demo version of the album’s “Blossom,” as well as the B-side “Be Seeing You.”
