Their long delayed and rumored DVD box set finally saw release last year, and now the legendary comedy group The State are back with the comedy album Comedy For Gracious Living. According to the press release, “The State decamped to the Bahamas, where they spent two weeks in January 1996 recording an album for Warner Bros. Records at Compass Point Studio in Nassau. For reasons unknown, and much to the chagrin of The State’s rabid cult followers, the album remained unreleased for 14 years.” Until now, as Gracious Living will drop September 21 on CD as a part of the Rhino Handmade series. It can be pre-ordered here. Listen in, and hear the denouement of this truly groundbreaking comedy troupe whose members went on to bigger, and arguably better things, including RENO 911!, Wet Hot American Summer, and Stella.
