Watch: Arcade Fire Perform “Afterlife” Live Music Video at YouTube Music Awards

Last night the inagural YouTube Music Awards took place in New York City at Pier 36. Kicking off the show Arcade Fire performed their excellent Reflektor track “Afterlife” for a live music video directed by Spike Jonze. The informal visual featured actress Greta Gerwig dancing out her emotions after saying goodbye to a romantic partner. Later in the evening Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler would provide a few laughs during the ceremony when he spoofed Kayne West’s infamous VMA acceptance speech interruption, taking the microphone to say that “Harlem Shake” was more deserving than Taylor Swift for winning the YouTube Phenomenon Award. In other Arcade Fire news, the band has confirmed headlining slots for a number of 2014 festivals, including Australia’s Big Day Out Festival in January, Lollapalooza Chile in March, Barcelona’s Primavera Sound in May, and Denmark’s NorthSide Festival in June.
