“Wonder Woman 1984” – Watch Gal Gadot & Chris Pine in the New Order-Soundtracked First Trailer
Due Out June 5, 2020 via Warner Bros.

Kristen Wiig
Here’s the first trailer for Wonder Woman 1984, the much anticipated sequel to 2017’s acclaimed Wonder Woman. As its title suggests, whereas the last film took place in World War I, the sequel fast forwards to 1984 and so the trailer’s soundtrack is fittingly a remixed version of New Order’s 1982 classic “Blue Monday.” Gal Gadot is returning as Wonder Woman (the character ages much more slowly than regular humans, if at all) and somehow Chris Pine returns as Steve Trevor (how remains a mystery). The first film’s director, Patty Jenkins, also is back. New cast members highlighted in the trailer are Kristen Wiig as Barbara Ann Minerva, who will become the villain Cheetah (although we don’t see her as Cheetah in the trailer), and Pedro Pascal as the other villain, Maxwell Lord.
Based on the trailer, they seem to have nailed the 1980s setting, complete with a fight in a mall. And wow does this version of “Blue Monday,” aided by an orchestral score, sound fantastic in the trailer (although it’s amusing looking at all the YouTube comments asking who the song is by). The film isn’t due out via Warner Bros. until June 5, 2020, but get excited now by watching the trailer below. The trailer debuted today at CCXP 2019, a Comic-Con convention in São Paulo, Brazil. Gadot and Jenkins were both on hand to unveil the trailer.
