Julian Lynch

“Just Enough” MP3

May 14, 2010

New Jersey folk-pop collagist Julian Lynch‘s upcoming full-length, Mare, already has a great closer, entitled “In New Jersey.” Hear that dense track on Lynch’s Tumblr. It makes sense that Lynch creates music while working towards a PhD in ethnomusicology. His songs are tiny masterpieces that perfectly conflate disparate genres into lazy afternoon jams worthy of intense study. The only artist/band that even comes close to this sound? Junkyard folk-rockers Califone.

Now download the opening cut, “Just Enough.” There are bits and pices of mumbled vocals swirling in an Eastern-styled groove. It’s much less heady than Lynch’s other ambient-pop junes. Mare doesn’t have a firm street date yet, but it’s ready to drop via Olde English Spelling Bee. (Via P4k.)
