Animal Collective Share Previously Unreleased Song from 2010 - “Mountain Game”
Originally Recorded for the Video Game Red Dead Redemption

Animal Collective
Animal Collective have shared a previously unreleased song, “Mountain Game,” that they originally recorded in 2010 for inclusion in the hit western video game Red Dead Redemption. The game didn’t end up using the song and it’s sat in the vaults until now. “Mountain Game” bears the sonic marks of Merriweather Post Pavilion, which was released a year earlier and remains the band’s biggest commercial hit (and some would argue an artistic highpoint). The song’s intro definitely sounds like something that could’ve soundtracked the old west setting for the game, but then it gets more Animal Collective-y and seems like less of a good fit for riding horses, shooting outlaws, and robbing trains. Listen below.
