Loma Illustrate Their Song “White Glass” Pictionary-Style in its New Video
Loma Out Now via Sub Pop
May 23, 2018 Cross Record
A band like Loma, as great as they are, probably doesn’t get a huge budget for a music video for a deep cut from the album, three months after the album came out. Hence their new video for “White Glass” is a fairly simple and low budget concept. The black & white clip features singer Emily Cross drawing out picture representations of the song’s lyrics on a big pad of paper, as if playing a game of Pictionary. At one point she writes out some words as well. Cross also self-directed the video, which I’m sure also helped with the budget. Watch it below.
Loma is a new band consisting of Shearwater singer Jonathan Meiburg and the two members of Cross Record (Emily Cross and Dan Duszynski). They released their self-titled debut album back in February via Sub Pop. They previously shared a video for the album’s closing track, “Black Willow” (which was our #1 Song of the Week), as well as the audio for the Krautrock-y “Relay Runner,” a video for “Relay Runner,” the audio for “Joy,” and the video for “Dark Oscillations.”
Meiburg met Cross Record when the duo opened for Shearwater in 2016. “I couldn’t believe all that sound was coming out of two people,” Meiburg said in a previous press release. “They were mesmerizing…. I fell in love with their music, and I wanted to know how they did it.”
